Uncle Luke Claims He Paved The Way For Female Rappers: 'I Need A Check'

Uncle Luke says he provided the formula for female rappers to win big in Hip-Hop today, and now he wants them to cut him a check.

During an Instagram Live session that Livebitez captured on Sunday, August 25, the Miami native demanded a check from Ice Spice, Megan Thee Stallion, Sexyy Red and all the other female rappers "that's running around shaking their a*s." Luke argued that his time with the revolutionary 2 Live Crew and classic records like "I Wanna Rock (Doo Doo Brown)" inspired a generation of females in Hip-Hop to twerk and pop their booties.

WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE

"I need a check from Ice Spice who's turning her a*s around and dropping it like it's hot and doo-doo browning," he said. "I need a check from her, I need a check from Sexyy Red. Nah, that Red's my friend."

"All the f**king girls Megan Thee Stallion," he continued. "Anybody that's running around shaking their a*s talking about p***y and d**k on the record, y'all need to send me a check."

In his defense, no one Hip-Hop — male or female — consistently dropped explicit, twerk-worthy music the way 2 Live Crew did. Their booty-shaking music made so much noise that the state of Florida tried to declare the group's 1989 album As Nasty As They Wanna Be as legally obscene. After the group sued Broward County Sheriff Nick Navarro for preventing the sale of their album, a federal court ruled the album was obscene. The decision was eventually overturned by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 1992, which set the standard for free speech in music for generations to come.

Unfortunately, Luke failed to mention pioneers like Trina, Foxy Brown, Lil' Kim, and Nicki Minaj who truly more women to rap today. The Luke Records founder does have a point, though. Women in Hip-Hop are winning now more than ever.

Neither Ice Spice, Megan Thee Stallion nor Sexyy Red have responded to Luke's demands. Fans will have to wait and see if they'll ever give Luke a check — or at least some props.
